New fishy fish project

A mosaic leather jacket (also known as dinnerplate leatherjacket!) from the book Sea Fishes of Southern Australia

My sketch:   I was going to paint the circles yellow and embroider the rest in blue, but ended up doing the opposite and painting the blue and embroidering yellow.

Lots of satin stitching going on, and I also used some herringbone stitch in there, seeing it's a fishy stitch to do.  Going slowly but I'll get there.  There will be a trio then, Mr Pufferfish, Humpty Dumpty and Dinnerplate.

go fly a kite...

Now 'little girl' is flying a kite.  Must be something about flying lately.  I have a fear of flying in planes.  Flying a kite is so much safer haha.  Flying on a bird would be too, i am sure.

*** I have made this into an embroidery pattern and it is available here

Just thought i would add the sketch i did for this bit of stitching

Sea Shells

Today I made a little paper pocket, cut out from a map, to put some tiny shells in so I can send them to my cousin by snail mail.

I also started a new embroidery, but I have had to unpick it a few times. It's not working out quite like I want it to and I think the problem is with the drawing.  It wasn't as good as it could have been so I've been making it up as I go along. Hence the unpicking!  A good clear drawing makes a lot of difference, even when it is a simple design, don't you think?

And I made another list of things to do. Again.  It just keeps getting longer.
